Meeting Chat can get quite noisy in busy meetings. When people want to have their say but can’t find a gap to get a word in, they use Chat. As the meeting continues, hot topics may generate a lot of discussion. Hands are raised and as people patiently wait their turn to talk, they chat. The trouble is the Chat banner notification covers the Chat text box, preventing you from typing in it while notifications come in thick and fast.

Meeting conversations can begin before the meeting too. You may want to engage in the conversation but are unaware because your Teams settings mute the meeting chat till you join the meeting, or start chatting early.

Learn how to control meeting Chat notifications, how to set defaults so you are aware of conversations that begin long before the meeting starts. Also find out how to silence meeting Chat notifications that take over your Chat editor.
